Anyone else digging their Sub Pop debut? I liked portions of their first two albums, but I'm enjoying the hell out of Teen Dream. The shoegazer-y guitars and keyboards sound so great, and the melodies are even better this time out. I am loving the soulful, almost '60s girl group feel of "Better Times" and the gorgeous dream pop of "Zebra" and "Used to Be." The singer's voice takes some getting used to (in fact my wife swears it's a dude), but it's so good.
They're hyped up by Pitchfork, but it's warranted in this case...brilliant stuff. With this, Spoon and Eels there are already three albums that I really like from this month. It's shaping up to be a nice music year.
